Damage Survivability

20m Passenger Vessel – Upgrading MCA Category

Pratt Naval Architecture worked with our client the vessel owner and MCA to upgrade two vessels from MCA Category A waters to Category B which entailed modifying them to meet damage survivability requirements.

Following an inclining experiment and stability assessment, a proposal was developed for modifying ballasting, watertight subdivision and provision of buoyancy which would enable the vessel to comply with the latest regulations with minimal effect on the passenger accommodation.

Pratt Naval Architecture were also tasked with designing an upgraded electrical system for MCA approval.
